A number of Maryland Catholic parishes, including St. Camillus in Silver Spring, and St. Ignatius Loyola in Baltimore, held Masses in honor of laborers just before or over Labor Day Weekend, among a number of observances to honor the dignity of those who work.

Meanwhile, U.S. Catholic bishops issued a Labor Day statement. The bishops call for us to “recommit ourselves to building together a society that honors the human dignity of all who labor. Through the treasure of Catholic social teaching, we have a long history of proclaiming the essential role labor plays in helping people to live out their human dignity.”

“Our faith calls us to pray, work, and advocate for protections that allow all laborers to thrive,” the statement reads.
